Frequently asked questions
Short answers about what VentureGauge is, how the gauge works, and how your information is stored.
What is VentureGauge?
VentureGauge is a mobile app that shows whether a small venture is paying for itself. You enter what you earn per unit, what it costs, and how many units you have sold. The app turns those numbers into a visual gauge of progress toward break-even.
What does “break-even” mean?
In VentureGauge, break-even is the point where the contribution from units sold covers your fixed expenses, based on the numbers you entered. It is an informational calculation, not a verdict on whether the venture is successful.
What counts as a unit?
A unit is whatever you sell repeatedly: a meal, an order, a session, a product, a job, or a customer payment. You decide what a unit means for that venture.
Who is VentureGauge for?
It is for people running food trucks, side hustles, independent shops, freelance work, creator sales, and other small ventures who want a clear picture of progress toward covering costs.
Do I need to understand accounting?
No. You enter four numbers in ordinary language. VentureGauge does the break-even math and explains the result without requiring you to learn formulas.
What happens after I reach 100%?
The gauge does not stop at 100%. Once costs are covered, it keeps showing how far the venture has moved beyond break-even, based on the same numbers you entered.
Does VentureGauge connect to my bank?
No. VentureGauge does not connect to banks, payment processors, shops, or other business systems. You enter the numbers yourself.
Does VentureGauge require an account?
No. VentureGauge does not require an account and does not use VentureGauge cloud synchronization.
Where is my venture data stored?
VentureGauge stores your venture information locally on your device. VentureGauge does not operate a server that stores your venture financial data. See the Privacy Policy for details about the website and app stores.
Can I track more than one venture?
Yes. You can keep more than one venture in the app, each with its own numbers, notes, and visual identity.
Does VentureGauge replace accounting software?
No. Accounting, inventory, point of sale, and similar tools can still run the business. VentureGauge is a gauge: it shows whether the numbers you entered say the venture is covering its costs.
Is VentureGauge financial advice?
No. VentureGauge is an informational planning tool. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Results depend on the values you enter.
